Video: Robbery in Freedom Square, Boy Threatens with Knife and Steals Phone
Police have solved a robbery case that occurred in Yerevan's Freedom Square. The information was reported by the police press service.
“On April 26, a young man who called the police reported that two individuals threatened his friend with a knife at Freedom Square and stole his mobile phone. The information was relayed to the central police department, from which an operational group was dispatched to the scene. It was found that a 16-year-old boy was at Freedom Square with his friends when an unknown young man approached him asking for a mobile phone. After being refused, the boy argued with the teenagers, then struck their hands with a knife and, under the threat of the knife, stole the mobile phone and fled,” the statement said.
A criminal case has been initiated on the basis of robbery. As a result of the operational-investigative measures taken by criminal investigators of the Central Police Department, it was revealed that the knife-wielding suspect is a 17-year-old resident of Vilnius Street in the capital. Officers from the Minor Offenses and Family Violence Prevention Division of the Nor-Nork Police also assisted the Central Police. Through their explanatory work, the 17-year-old voluntarily reported to the Nor-Nork police station on April 27, from where he was transferred to the central police station and arrested.
The investigation is ongoing.
