The People Are Captives of the Former and the Present, of the Gelkheghds and Gels: Marukyan

The prescription to avoid the anticipated disaster is known, assures Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the 'Enlightened Armenia' faction in the National Assembly. According to him, this is the third way.

In a post on his Facebook page addressing the issue, he noted that the Armenian people are currently captives of two destructive currents—those of the former and the present leaders, the gelkheghds and the gels.

“In 2018, our partners from the 'Yelk' bloc, led by Nikol Pashinyan, chose the revolutionary path. From the very beginning, we had opted for an evolutionary method of development, meaning a gradual, smooth process without shocks. Despite the fact that the revolutionary approach achieved short-term victories, we remained loyal to our philosophy until the end, even when newly appointed officials, blinded by their personal egos and arbitrary positions, mocked and ridiculed the concept of the third way. However, life has shown that we were right, and the evidence of this is the renewed relevance of the third way,” he stated.

“Now the Armenian people are captives of two destructive forces—the former and the current leaders, the gelkheghds and the gels. Neither of them can, nor do they even attempt, to pull the state out of the disastrous situation. On the contrary, they seek power only to annihilate each other, take revenge, and achieve absolute hegemony. This is a destructive path, leading the Armenian state into dangerously adventurous situations.”

“The prescription to avoid the anticipated disaster is known. It is the third way, through which people can bid farewell to all the current and former leaders, the gels, the gelkheghds, heroes, and traitors, idols, and saviors. Armenia has no more resources to endure, especially at the expense of Pashinyan and the former leaders' personal ambitions. This country needs peace, harmony, and unity; the chaos reminiscent of internal hemorrhaging must be contained,” Marukyan wrote.
