Do Not Associate Disagreements and Media Terror with the Human Rights Defender, Tatoyan to MP
It is no secret that several lawmakers from the ruling party have disagreements with the Human Rights Defender. I would like to address these disagreements. This was stated by MP Maria Karapetyan from the 'My Step' faction during a session of the National Assembly's Human Rights Committee as she addressed HRD Arman Tatoyan.
'Last December, it was clear to all of us that the public was subjected to media terror. At the same time, from mid-December, you started talking about the work of border delimitation and demarcation. It seemed that you were stating that these processes were ongoing. Later you clearly indicated in your posts that you are transitioning to using the term of border determination process, no longer mentioning demarcation and delimitation. Of course, we would all wish to have no war at all, no adversary country, and to live peacefully with our neighbors. However, since it is impossible to form a commission in these conditions and establish diplomatic relations, we do the minimal possible under this neighborhood situation. I want to understand how you assess your statements. Couldn’t a contact have been established with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or any other official to clarify that such a process does not exist and that these additional alarming signals indicate that some legal final process is taking place, which will no longer be subject to revision?' the MP noted.
Arman Tatoyan urged not to associate disagreements and media terror with the Human Rights Defender under any circumstances, as he is a non-political official: 'You talk about some disagreements, but I do not operate in such categories. Whether you see a disagreement or not, that is your perception and cannot stop me from performing my work. The role of the Human Rights Defender is also to move forward despite existing disagreements, both through public statements and practical work. Regarding delimitation and demarcation, any time my position should not indicate that delimitation and demarcation are ongoing; it cannot be interpreted this way. As for GPS, I have said correctly, what are they doing until now? Have you gone to the borders, have you seen what they are doing?' added the Human Rights Defender.
