30-year-old Man Kidnapped Girl and Took Her to Dilijan, But She Escaped; Two Suspects Identified

The investigation into the case of the abduction of a resident of Ejmiatsin has concluded concerning the second suspect, as reported by the Armenian Investigative Committee.

According to the investigation, a 30-year-old man, having reached a preliminary agreement with his 34-year-old friend and two other individuals to abduct a resident of Ejmiatsin for the purpose of marriage, carried out the act on June 7, 2017, around 1:00 PM. The group used violence against the girl’s will, abducting her on Kuybishev Street in the city using a Nissan vehicle.

Afterward, the two friends took the girl first to Artashat and then to Dilijan, from where she managed to escape the next day.

Based on the collected sufficient evidence, charges have been filed against the 34-year-old man under the first point of the second part of Article 131 of the RA Criminal Code. The court has chosen pre-trial detention as a measure of restraint, while also permitting an alternative measure of bail.

The investigation against the 34-year-old suspect has been completed, and the case, with an indictment conclusion, has been sent to court.

It should be noted that the investigation regarding the 30-year-old man was completed on April 11, 2019, and it is currently at the trial phase. As for the other two individuals, the proceedings against them have been suspended due to the lack of identification of the persons involved in the case as defendants.
