US Secretary of State Comments on Biden's Statement on Armenian Genocide
US President Joe Biden did not attempt to place blame on Turkey when discussing the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire. This was stated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during an online meeting with foreign journalists on Wednesday, as reported by TASS.
“As the President noted, the desire to commemorate the day is aimed at honoring the memory of the victims, not to blame anyone. And, of course, our focus was on the events of the Ottoman Empire,” said the US Secretary of State.
He also noted that the United States calls on Turkey and its foreign allies and partners to refrain from further purchases of Russian weapons and military equipment, warning that such transactions may be subject to unilateral sanctions from the US.
