New Initiatives for Trade Growth and Increased Mutual Investments with Armenia: Mishustin to Pashinyan
The Prime Minister of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin, conveyed greetings from the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with the acting Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan. This was reported by Interfax.
“First of all, I would like to convey warm regards and best wishes from the President of Russia, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin,” Mishustin said.
The Russian Prime Minister noted that the statement adopted by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia after the cessation of military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh creates great opportunities for joint work.
“This is primarily about the unblocking of all economic and transport links and the creation of new infrastructural routes. All this will create conditions for the sustainable development of the region,” he said.
Additionally, the Russian Prime Minister proposed that the intergovernmental commission prepare new initiatives for increasing trade growth and mutual investments between Russia and Armenia.
Mishustin emphasized that the coronavirus pandemic has affected the dynamics of bilateral trade, noting that last year, the mutual commodity turnover decreased by about 10%, amounting to approximately $2.3 billion.
“This situation is not favorable. I propose to instruct our intergovernmental commission to prepare new initiatives aimed at trade growth and increasing mutual investments with Armenia,” the Russian Prime Minister stressed.
