Turkey Plans to Freeze Military Cooperation with the US: Bloomberg
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan intends to halt cooperation with the United States in defense and economic sectors. The reason is that US President Joe Biden has recognized the Armenian Genocide. This was reported by the American publication Bloomberg, citing its sources.
The Pentagon, in turn, stated that Biden's message would not affect military relations with Turkey. Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby expressed that there are no expectations of changes in military relations with Turkey. 'Turkey is our NATO ally. We don't believe that Biden's statement on April 24 will have an impact on those relations,' Kirby said, hoping that Turkish-American ties in the defense sector will only strengthen.
