Turkish MP Threatens Karo Paylan Over Talaat Pasha Genocide Remarks

Turkey's independent MP Ümit Özdağ has targeted the Armenian MP Karo Paylan from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), issuing threats against him. According to Ermenihaber, the provocation stems from Paylan's Twitter post commemorating the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Özdağ responded to Paylan's statement by saying, “You are an uneducated, provocative person. If you are not satisfied, go to hell. Talaat Pasha did not exile patriotic Armenians but those who stab from the back like you. When the time comes, the same will happen to you, and it must happen.”

It is noteworthy that on April 24, Paylan tweeted, “106 years later, we walk through streets named after the architect of the Genocide, Talaat Pasha. We educate our children in schools named after Talaat Pasha. If there were streets in Germany named after Hitler and children were taught in schools bearing his name, Germany would be just like Turkey today.”

In continuation of his statement, Paylan added, “Since the Armenian Genocide has been denied for 106 years, this issue continues to be a topic of discussion in other parliaments and among the leaders of other states. The pain of the Armenian people must be brought to Turkey.”
