The Defender of the Meghri Community Chief Submits a Request to the Prosecutor's Office

The defender of Meghri community leader Mkhitar Zakaryan, Gayane Papoyan, announced on her Facebook page: "I inform you that today I have submitted a request to the Prosecutor General of Armenia to demand the removal of the clearly unfounded charges brought against Mkhitar Zakaryan. Let me remind you that both when challenging the legality of the arrest and while discussing the detention request, the courts recorded the absence of reasonable suspicion. In other words, the connection of Mkhitar Zakaryan to the crime attributed to him has not even been substantiated at the level of reasonable suspicion. What is this, if not political persecution? Mr. Davtyan, you are simply obliged to act within the framework of the Criminal Procedure Code and eliminate the clearly fabricated accusation."
