Interrogation of Former Syunik Governor's Wife Not Political Persecution, Says SCS Chairman

Elizabeth Petrosyan, the wife of the former governor of Syunik, has been present at the Investigative Department of the State Revenue Committee (SCS) in connection with a criminal case, SCS Chairman Edward Hovhannisyan said today to reporters in parliament.

"Yes, she has been present and interrogated," Hovhannisyan stated.

He did not elaborate on the specifics of the case, noting that inquiries should be directed to the investigative body. "The investigative body will assess whether it is appropriate to provide information or not," he added.

According to the SCS chairman, this should not be classified as political pressure since Elizabeth Petrosyan is not only the wife of the former governor, but also an independent entity and the head of a separate legal organization.

In response to journalists' comments that the interrogation coincided with an incident during the Prime Minister's visit to Syunik, the SCS chairman responded, "All coincidences are either you or society trying to interpret under the context of political subtext. The mentioned individual has been summoned for questioning before as well."
