Deputy Chief of General Staff Andranik Makaryan Charged
The head of the General Directorate of Preparation of the Armed Forces, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Andranik Makaryan, has been charged, the spokesperson for the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Vardan Tadevosyan, told Aysor.am.
“Andranik Makaryan has been charged under Part 3 of Article 376 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia,” he said. A measure of restraint has been chosen for Andranik Makaryan, requiring him to sign a pledge not to leave.
The spokesperson of the Investigative Committee noted that they cannot provide information on whether Makaryan has been interrogated or not. Part 3 of Article 376 of the Criminal Code stipulates that negligence towards service is punishable by imprisonment for a term of four to eight years if the actions specified in Parts 1 or 2 of this article were committed during a state of martial law, wartime or in combat situations.
According to the “Zhoghovurd” newspaper, Andranik Makaryan is being charged for the disappearance of a 60-member military unit.
