Boris Avagyan Will Continue to Address the Issue of Return of Captured Individuals from Shirak
I will continue to address the issue of returning the captured individuals from Shirak, Boris Avagyan stated in an interview with "Factinfo", noting that his dismissal from his post in Artsakh has not changed anything in that regard.
It should be recalled that he was dismissed on April 19 after criticizing the behavior of certain representatives of the authorities during a parliamentary discussion, stating that it does not contribute to the process of returning the large number of citizens who have been taken captive.
He specifically deemed the position of some members of the "My Step" faction in the Armenian Parliament unacceptable, which claimed that the responsibility for the return of the prisoners rests with the Russian side. Immediately after this, the State Emergency Service of Artsakh released a statement announcing that Boris Avagyan had been dismissed due to his expressed opinions.
It is also worth noting that in March Avagyan was dismissed from his position as the special representative of the President of Artsakh.
"I will continue to work on the return of captured individuals from Shirak. I have never been given such authority; it has been conveyed to me by the parents and the governor with a written request," Avagyan stated.
When asked whether it would be possible to engage in the return of captives without holding an official position in Artsakh, Avagyan replied, "That position did not help me in any way regarding the issue of returning captives. It may be possible to be involved as an individual at this moment, and I will inform you about any progress."
