Video: Social Issues Worsened Due to Security Problems, Says Ombudsman

The normal life of border residents in the Syunik region of Armenia has been disrupted due to border processes, the unlawful presence of Azerbaijani forces, and actions violating the rights of border residents, such as difficulties in accessing pastures, cultivating land, and obtaining water.

This was stated by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, on his Facebook page, reflecting on his and the President’s visit to Syunik.

The primary guarantee of the rights of border residents is ensuring border security. Due to security issues, social matters have also deteriorated.

During the joint visit of the President and the Human Rights Defender to the border communities of the Syunik region, the President’s remarks regarding these issues were important and will be included in the proposals for a security zone. This was the main aim of the joint visit.

Measures will also be taken, including joint efforts, aimed at addressing other documented issues (social and more).
