If the surge in cases does not stop, experts predict that by May, the number of infected individuals could reach half a million per day. Recently, a new record was set for the number of Covid infections in the past day. According to data from the Indian Ministry of Health, reported by RBC, this marks the fourth consecutive day of the highest daily infection rate recorded.

In the last 24 hours, 349,600 infections have been reported, the highest single-day figure for any country throughout the pandemic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the 'coronavirus storm' has shaken India. In light of the sharp increase in infections, he has urged citizens to be cautious and get vaccinated.
