Turkey Threatens US with Sanctions
Following US President Joseph Biden's April 24 message, Turkish officials continue to issue condemnatory statements, reports Ermenihaber.am.
The term "genocide" has not only caused outrage among Turkish officials and certain segments of the public, but the fact that the US president referred to Istanbul as Constantinople has also drawn significant ire.
It is anticipated that during the cabinet meeting scheduled for April 26, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the issue of imposing sanctions against the US will be discussed.
Some circles are even talking about bringing the issue of reconsidering Turkey's NATO membership onto the agenda.
Turkish authorities have indicated that they are inclined to respond firmly and in a "proportional" manner to Biden's statements.
In this context, the opposition has also brought forward its proposal to restrict the use of the Incirlik Air Base by the US.
