Complex Measures Needed to Prevent Provocations in Artsakh: Abrahamyan
Complex measures are necessary to prevent provocations in Artsakh. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, the head of the "Henarik" analytical center, on his Facebook page.
“The primary one is the section of the road connecting Stepanakert, Shushi, and Berdzor, specifically the presence of Azerbaijanis at the two entrances of Shushi city. It is clear from the uniforms of the Azerbaijanis stationed in that area that internal troops of Azerbaijan are operating in that section of the front line. The mere fact that armed Azerbaijanis are standing just 3-4 meters away from the Russian peacekeepers' checkpoint significantly increases the risk of provocations.
A provocation is not just the use of firearms or other weapons. It includes gestures, postures, verbal remarks, and so on. Likewise, there is a significant issue of withdrawing troops from other positions on the front line, conditionally referred to as the demilitarization of the border. If this issue is not resolved, then critical, warning, and calling statements made in various incidents will not solve any problems, and the recorded occurrences will continue to repeat with various frequencies.
The armed forces of countries that consider each other enemies continue to stand face-to-face along the front line, while the inter-position areas in many directions are just a few dozen meters wide,” he wrote.
