19-Year-Old Student Dies at 'Mari Izmirlian' Orphanage

A student at the 'Mari Izmirlian' orphanage has died recently. The girl was 19 years old, according to reports from ArmDaily.am.

The press secretary of the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Zarouhi Manucharyan, informed the media that the deceased had congenital tuberous sclerosis. "It is important to note that this is a rare condition that primarily affects the lungs and kidneys. The girl’s lungs and kidneys were affected by the disease. The death was recorded due to renal failure," she stated.

She added that the illness was congenital, which is why the parents expressed a desire for her care to be entrusted to the orphanage.

The girl had been transferred to a medical center and spent a week in the intensive care unit. During that time, her mother, grandmother, and other relatives visited her. They were all aware of the child's health condition and the related illness.

Zarouhi Manucharyan also confirmed that the police had been informed about the incident, and a forensic medical examination had been conducted.
