VIDEO: We Must Have Preconditions to Talk with Turkey – Vardan Voskanian
We are dealing with a planned operation. This was stated by Iranian studies expert Vardan Voskanian during a conversation with journalists, reflecting on the government's agenda regarding dialogue with Turkey.
“If you follow the pro-Turkish statements, you will see that there is ideological support for it and its implementation by those who are considered political figures,” he said.
Voskanian noted that he believes Turkey is clearly responding to this, showing that it does not want to talk to us at all, and therefore, the issue should be considered closed from the outset.
“Today, to talk with Turkey, we must have preconditions that also stem from the infamous results recorded in the 44-day war. I think it is inappropriate to talk to a state that imports terrorists into the region,” he stated.
Voskanian emphasized that the preconditions should pertain to changes in Turkey's positions. “In other words, Armenia cannot only talk to this kind of Turkey; it cannot relate to it, but must fight against this kind of Turkey. Our society clearly demonstrated that when there are attempts to, figuratively speaking, undermine our collective immunity, which secures certain components of security, then, in some cases, the response can be extreme. In this context, I believe we are dealing with a regime that is driven by numerous interests but never by the interests of the Republic of Armenia,” he said.
