Shurnukh Resident Ashot's Transfer to Detention Center Confirmed by Lawyer

Reports regarding the hospitalization of Ashot from Shurnukh, real name Ararat Aghabekyan, are not accurate, said Aghabekyan's lawyer, Armen Melikonyan, in an interview with ArmDaily.am.

“At this moment, I don’t have any new information about Ararat Aghabekyan. There might be updates after 12:30 PM. Ashot is currently at the detention center; I last saw him last night at the ZPV,” the lawyer stated.

Melikonyan informed that Aghabekyan has not been hospitalized; he was in very poor health, suffering from lung issues, and had been self-isolated at home for several days in a bedridden condition. “He has not stepped outside at all; he was lying at home, and this way, he was taken in illegally. I am astonished by the inhumane treatment directed towards Ararat. A person who has gone through three wars and made contributions—do these people who brought Ararat in like this have any respect from their parents and children?” stated Armen Melikonyan.

When asked by ArmDaily.am if it was necessary to transfer Ashot to a hospital, Melikonyan replied that the investigative body had been informed of their conclusion by the emergency doctors, but they hadn’t communicated anything to him.
