How Many People Participated in the Protests Against Pashinyan in Syunik

According to the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd', 'For two days now, there has been a vigorous discussion within society regarding Nikol Pashinyan's visit to Syunik and the subsequent events. Various news flows continue. The opposition and certain sections of social media have begun to present the situation as if the entire Syunik region is on its feet. Meanwhile, members of the ruling camp insist that these were merely small groups of people acting on behalf of former oligarchic circles.

We attempted to gather approximate data from different sources regarding the estimated number of participants in the protests against Nikol Pashinyan. It was reported to us that around 50 people (of whom 20-25 were active) participated in Agarak, including the community leader, the deputy, and other administrative personnel, while in Shurnukh, the number was close to 25, including the community leader and his brother. If you also account for the hundreds of people accompanying the Prime Minister, the events would indeed seem populous, although it is clear from videos that the actual number of protest participants was quite minimal.

By the way, we spoke with some citizens living in Syunik; a portion of the people is indeed dissatisfied, broken, but they also feel hurt when it is said that the entire Syunik is like this, that the whole region is against the current authorities. Syunik is also among the regions where there are opposition figures and representatives of the government; just as not everyone is pro-Pashinyan, not everyone is in opposition either.'
