Baku Military Court Extends Lyudvig Mkrtchyan's Detention Period by 4 Months
The Baku military court has investigated the request to extend the detention of Armenian citizen Lyudvig Mkrtchyan.
During the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War, Mkrtchyan was captured and is accused in Azerbaijan of torturing Azerbaijani prisoners of war during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. This was reported by the website minval.az.
According to the court's decision, Mkrtchyan's detention period has been extended by another 4 months.
He has been found guilty under Article 113 of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code (inflicting physical pain or mental suffering on persons under detention or other restrictions on their freedom).
A criminal case against Mkrtchyan was initiated in the military prosecutor's office of Azerbaijan back in 2000.
