Investigation Underway into Circumstances Surrounding 11-Year-Old Girl's Death
On April 20, 2021, at 01:00, the police department of Ijevan received a notification from the Ijevan Medical Center about four family members from the community of Getahovit in the Tavush region being admitted due to food poisoning. On April 19, 2021, at 23:30, an 11-year-old minor girl died at the medical center, as reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated at the Tavush regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee under the second part of Article 130 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (failure to fulfill or improperly fulfill professional duties by those providing medical assistance and service).
During the preliminary investigation, numerous investigative and procedural actions have been carried out, including inspections at the scene. Originals of the outpatient medical records of the aforementioned four individuals and the ambulance call sheet have been seized. Several expert examinations have been appointed, and searches have been conducted. A number of individuals have been questioned.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the incident.
