Supreme Judicial Council Denies Reports of Gagik Jhangiryan Entering Ruben Vardazaryan's Office
The Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia has refuted reports claiming that Gagik Jhangiryan entered Ruben Vardazaryan's office yesterday.
“In order to protect the public from disinformation, we would like to briefly address several false reports published yesterday by certain mass media outlets, notably one of them: ‘Incident at the Supreme Judicial Council: Jhangiryan received Vardazaryan's car, and the battle for the office continues’, and ‘I don’t care, open the door however you want: Jhangiryan has ‘intruded’ into Vardazaryan’s office’. These publications bear no relation to reality,” stated the council.
The first report was refuted on the same day; however, this did not deter the media’s relentless efforts to mislead the public.
The second piece of information published is also fabricated, simply because the office of the president of the Supreme Judicial Council was inspected and inventory taken by a commission composed of members of the council and relevant officials from the Judicial Department, and the entire process was recorded on video. The procedure was carried out in accordance with the law. Gagik Jhangiryan was neither involved nor present during the process.
Moreover, yesterday the Supreme Judicial Council and its staff operated under an overloaded agenda, with a council meeting, the selection of candidates for the Court of Cassation, and the examination of two disciplinary motions against a judge submitted by the Minister of Justice… All meetings were presided over by the acting president of the Supreme Judicial Council, academic member Gagik Jhangiryan,” the statement from the Supreme Judicial Council reads.
