It is inadvisable that 7 out of 11 members of the inquiry committee be My Step representatives, says Gorgisyan
“Pashinyan should resign on the 25th or 26th, and that would mean changes to the Electoral Code after the Prime Minister has already resigned, which is absurd. I hope they do not make this extreme mistake,” said LHK MP Gevorg Gorgisyan during a conversation with journalists today.
When asked about Onik Gasparyan's request to the National Assembly to establish an inquiry committee, he stated, “If an inquiry committee is formed now, it must be headed by Andranik Kocharyan, and 7 out of 11 members should be from My Step, which is inadvisable. I am not even sure we have officially received that letter. We suggested creating a public committee that would consist of parliamentary forces and representatives from the Office of the Human Rights Defender, which was rejected. Those people who have supported the Prime Minister's actions throughout the war will not be interested in uncovering any issues.”
In response to a comment about the impeachment of the Chairman of the Council of Justice, Gorgisyan noted that it is yet another senseless waste of energy by the authorities. “Since coming to power, they have been changing the judicial authority; the CJ Council they appointed is doing what they did not want with their own members. The Constitutional Court makes a decision that they chase after to prevent it from happening. This is all a comedy of absurdity. These people do not understand what the state, statehood, state institutions, and the purpose of branches of power with checks and balances mean. They want to create a single figure of Nikol Pashinyan, who says, ‘Go here, go there,’ and this cannot be done; they are destroying everything,” he asserted. “I insist that if they remain in power for another two years, we will lose statehood because these people are incompetent, yet narcissistic and arrogant, embodying all that is sinful, and are leading the country to destruction.”
