Instead of Migrant Labor, Our Brothers Who Endured the Fires of War Will Continue Their Service: Marukyan
The leader of the "Enlightened Armenia" parliamentary group, Edmon Marukyan, made a post on his Facebook page regarding the parliament's approval of a bill to raise the age threshold for contract servicemen by an average of 5 years, authored by his group.
"Instead of going abroad for work, our brothers who have endured the fires of war will be able to continue their contract military service, defending our borders. The National Assembly fully approved the Enlightened Armenia group's draft amendments to the Law on Military Service and the Status of Military Personnel, which increases the age threshold for contract military service by an average of 5 years. The proposed age limits for those in contract military service are set at 50 for soldiers, junior, and senior sergeant ranks, 48-52 for junior officer ranks, 50-55 for senior officer ranks, 55-58 for colonels, and 63 for higher-ranking officers," wrote Marukyan.
