Lukashenko Announces Arrest of Group Preparing Assassination Attempt Against Him and His Children
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, announced that a group preparing an assassination attempt against him and his children has been detained. He claimed that the group involved was connected to U.S. special services. Footage of Lukashenko’s speech was released by the pul_1 Telegram channel.
“We have arrested the group; they have shown that they had planned all this... then we discovered the apparent involvement of foreign intelligence services, most likely the CIA and FBI. I don’t know who among the Americans was working there. We uncovered their intentions to be in Minsk and organize an assassination attempt against the president and his children,” Lukashenko stated.
According to him, the apprehended individuals were planning to abduct his children, either one or two, depending on how it would work out. He added that if they attempt to plan an assassination again, their response will be very harsh.
The Russian Federal Security Service also apprehended Yuri Zenkovich and Alexander Feduta in Moscow on suspicion of attempting a coup in Belarus, transferring them to the Belarusian security service. According to sources, they intended to carry out a coup in Minsk on May 9, the day celebrating the victory in the Great Patriotic War, by physically neutralizing Alexander Lukashenko.
