The Risk of Regional Destabilization Remains: Edward Nalbandyan Discusses the Situation in Nagorno-Karabakh
Former Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan gave an interview to the French publication Politique Internationale, discussing the peace negotiations for resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the outcomes of the 44-day war.
In the interview, Nalbandyan noted that the presence of Russian peacekeepers in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone undoubtedly serves as a security guarantee and a significant obstacle to the resumption of hostilities. However, the risk of regional destabilization still exists.
"Russia, the USA, and France called for the immediate withdrawal of foreign mercenaries from the region in the Declaration of December 3, 2020. To this day, representatives from various international organizations continue to express concern regarding the ongoing presence of mercenary militants posing a threat to the security and stability of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. Who brought these mercenaries to the region? It is well known to everyone—Turkey and Azerbaijan," Nalbandyan stated.
