Sotk Mine Workers Block Road and Railway: Taguhi Tovmasyan

MP Taguhi Tovmasyan has posted on her Facebook page, informing that the employees of the Sotk gold mine continue to block the road and railway leading to the mine.

The post is as follows:

"I have been approached by the mine employees, who are complaining that for several months now they have been receiving incomplete salaries and have learned that due to the reduction in extraction volumes, it is impossible to receive their previous salaries. The employees only find out at the end of the month how much salary they will receive, which is 4-5 times less than what they used to get.

Yesterday, they met with the General Director of GeoProMining Gold, Anatoly Gogotini, who listened to the employees’ demands, but unfortunately, the issue has not been resolved. Today, the employees contacted me again, specifically mentioning that they were hopeful that the issue would be addressed, but there has still been no solution, and they feel offended.

The mine employees add that alongside their everyday family expenses, they are facing serious issues regarding the repayment of loans, and naturally, before taking the loans, they could not have anticipated that they would be facing such a problem through no fault of their own.

Understanding the difficulties present in the post-war phase, I expect all relevant parties with the authority and capability to assist to prioritize addressing this issue and supporting our compatriots who find themselves in a difficult situation. We must stand by our compatriots who work just a few meters away under the watchful eyes of the enemy. Please do not ignore them.

P.S. As I have repeatedly reported, around 300 employees of the mine have been laid off since a large portion of the mine area is under Azerbaijani control."
