Fire Erupted on Northern Avenue Extinguished; 65 Evacuated
On April 14, at 17:56, the National Crisis Management Center received a report of smoke coming from one of the buildings on Yerevan's Northern Avenue. In response to the fire's severity, categorized as "1 BIS," four firefighting units, one aerial ladder, operational teams from the National Crisis Management Center, a psychologist from the Psychological Support Division, and a medical support team were dispatched to the scene.
According to preliminary reports, the fire broke out in the smoke duct of the building adjacent to the "La Piazza" Italian restaurant at 5 Northern Avenue. Rescuers evacuated approximately 65 citizens. The fire was contained by 18:32 and was extinguished by 19:01. Demolition work on the smoke duct was carried out over an area of 3 square meters. Damaged were the motor located on the 11th floor of the smoke duct system, a 2 square meter sheet metal section, about 6 square meters of piping in the kitchen of the "La Piazza" restaurant, and 4 square meters of suspended ceiling.
