VIDEO: Discussions on Prisoners Create Inappropriate Atmosphere in Society, Says MP

Since yesterday, photos of the so-called park showcasing the Armenian military museum opened in Baku have been widely circulated on the internet. Following the first Nagorno-Karabakh war, a park for martyrs was opened in Baku, where the remains of martyrs—primarily Azerbaijani perpetrators involved in the massacre of Armenians in Baku and Azerbaijanis who died during the first war—are buried. This was stated by Andranik Kocharyan, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly, during his remarks in parliament.

“However, by displaying Armenian military equipment in this park, alongside mannequins of our armed forces personnel, Aliyev is effectively state-sponsored inciting hatred towards Armenians and promoting enmity, which is condemned both by our community and the international community,” said Kocharyan. “Aliyev instills a false sense of arrogance within his people. This is essentially the first step towards squandering their supposed victory,” he added.

According to the MP, the opening of this absurd park foreshadows their future defeat. Kocharyan also touched upon the ongoing discussions concerning prisoners, stating that these discussions create an inappropriate atmosphere in society and should not be a subject of public debate. “During these days, the issue of prisoners is actively being discussed, aimed at misleading the public and artificially creating tension within the state. I have repeatedly stated that turning such topics into subjects of public discussion not only does not help in the return of prisoners, but also directly hinders that process,” Kocharyan remarked.

He also noted that every captured soldier still has a mission to accomplish. “Regardless of whether the pain belongs to our own families or not, every person captured during the war—every soldier who fell heroically or remains alive—is a member of our family and a valuable citizen of our state who still has a mission to fulfill,” the MP highlighted.
