A New Giant Statue of Jesus Christ is Being Built in Brazil, Taller than the Iconic Christ the Redeemer
A new giant statue of Jesus Christ is being built in Brazil. This was reported by the French media outlet France 24.
The new giant statue of Jesus Christ, being constructed in the southern region of Brazil, will be even taller than the iconic Christ the Redeemer, which overlooks Rio de Janeiro. This week, the head and outstretched arms were added to the statue in the city of Encantado, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The monument is expected to be completed by the end of this year, according to the Association of Friends of Christ, which is coordinating the work.
The statue, named Christ the Protector, will reach a height of 43 meters (140 feet), including its pedestal. The arms will span 36 meters, and it will feature an internal elevator and viewing platform at the top. In comparison, the height of Christ the Redeemer is 38 meters, including its pedestal, with an arm span of 28 meters. This October 12 marks the 90th anniversary of its inauguration.
