I Cannot Consider Turkey a Friendly Country: Alen Simonyan

The Vice President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, does not regard Turkey as a friendly country. He emphasized that Yerevan has always been ready to start dialogue without preconditions, citing clear examples such as football diplomacy and the incidents when Foreign Minister Nalbandian was seen trying to deliver a message to Erdoğan amid a crowd.

Simonyan stated during an interview on 'Azatutyun' that Armenia's strategic ally is Russia, responding to a question about whether Yerevan should initiate dialogue with Ankara. He personally does not consider Turkey a friendly country.

"I cannot consider Turkey a friendly country as long as it has not proven its friendliness," he said. When asked if he would label it an enemy, he replied: "Definitely not a friend."
