15-Year-Old Driver Crashes Hyundai into Iron Gates in Yerevan

On April 8, 15-year-old Grigor Grigoryan arrived at the Yerevan Traffic Police Operational Management Center with a parent and reported that on April 5, he drove a Hyundai car that was involved in an accident. According to Shamshyan.com, a major and reckless car accident occurred in Yerevan on April 5.

At around 21:00, a Hyundai Elantra vehicle left the roadway under unknown circumstances on Gurgen Mahari Street in the Vardashen neighborhood, collided with the iron gates of house number 101, and then continued forward, partially ending up on a pedestrian sidewalk and on a tree.

Numerous residents living near the accident site, including senior citizens, justifiably raised their voices, saying, "This street has become a rally track for some drivers. Since the road is well-paved, some drivers press the gas pedal without thinking that driving in such a manner leads to accidents. Many accidents, including pedestrian hits, have occurred in this area, resulting in fatalities, and many citizens have ended up in hospitals. For two years, we have petitioned the Yerevan municipality, even in writing, to either install speed cameras or create 3-4 artificial bumps. We are confident that if artificial bumps are installed, accidents will significantly decrease. Now, who should we turn to? We thank God that no citizens were harmed in this accident. True, the property owner suffered significant material damage, but that is a solvable issue. If a citizen had been harmed and their relatives were to take action, who would they blame? We hope that at least after this accident, the municipal officials will step out of their offices and spend a day or a few hours on this street. They will realize that our demands are not baseless. The only solution to this issue is to install several artificial bumps, which would serve as a restraint for some reckless drivers, not to mention the safety of approximately 5-6 thousand residents, mostly locals, visitors, and residents of Shorboulakh and Jrarashen passing through this road."

Later, the Yerevan Traffic Police Operational Management Center received a call from Muratsan Medical Center, reporting that a 15-year-old resident of Yerevan, Mher P., had been transferred to them with injuries. After receiving first aid on site, he was transported by ambulance to the St. Astvatsamayr Medical Center.
