Healthcare Workers' Salaries Remain Unchanged: 'Pasts'

The healthcare workers across the Republic have been battling the coronavirus pandemic with tremendous effort since March of last year. Additionally, since September, due to the wartime situation, they have once again carried out extensive work.

Currently, the infection rates of coronavirus are witnessing another rise, creating new tension within the healthcare system. The 'Pasts' newspaper sent an inquiry to the Ministry of Health requesting a response regarding whether healthcare workers (referring to all tiers of medical staff) have received any bonuses in this context. If so, how many times and to what extent since March 1, 2020?

We also asked how much the salaries of healthcare workers have increased over the past year. The ministry responded: 'The Ministry of Health has not established bonuses for healthcare workers in connection with the fight against the coronavirus and the state of emergency. According to the Law on Joint-Stock Companies of the Republic of Armenia, the salaries, including bonuses, of healthcare workers are determined by the director of the respective company.'

The ministry also informs that 'in 2020, the salaries of healthcare workers did not undergo any changes.' This was reported by the 'Pasts' newspaper.
