Pozner Did to Kocharian What He Once Successfully Tried on Sargsyan: Vard Simonyan
Journalist Vard Simonyan wrote on his Facebook page: “Applause to Kocharian’s PR team; let’s agree, it’s not an easy task to sculpt the image of an average kyokhva from a client and to demonstrate complete political ignorance before Ostankino, embarrassing oneself in front of an audience of 250 million. And it was in vain that the client tried to disperse Pozner’s impression in Russian, which the man hinted at at least twice that he was dealing with the classics of deceit.
Kocharian was not only unprepared for a dignified conversation with a journalist known for his brutal questioning but also conspiratorially “forgot” to inform him that his interlocutor is not Russian, that his homeland is not Russia, and moreover, in hundreds of interviews, he has not shied away from expressing his disgust at Russian imperial cynicism.
Usually, a professional forgets about the money during the broadcast and sacrifices his professional integrity for any prior agreement. Pozner, despite his age-related, senile behavior, is nevertheless a consummate professional and, with his very first question, demonstrated that for him “the budget is not a plot.” And he did to Kocharian what he had once successfully tried on Sargsyan—of course, recording yet another act of national disgrace for the Armenian people.
In a matter of minutes, Pozner managed to reveal all the shortcomings of his victim—the complete absence of any leadership qualities of a sovereign country's leader, the lack of connection with the civilizational weight of that country, and the utter lack of political decorum and modern thinking. It’s as if… No, Pozner is deadly for you; come out of Angela’s “Mirror”…”
