Video: Nearly 200 Bodies and Remains Found in Freezer Trucks Outside of Metsamor Morgue

Outside the Metsamor morgue, freezer trucks from the company 'Spayka' have stood for six months, housing the bodies and remains of soldiers who died in the recent Artsakh war. This was reported by '168 Jam.'

“We filmed last week on April 3. A young man greeted us at the morgue, introducing himself as a student from the Medical University. He mentioned that for the past six months he, along with several volunteers, have been trying to help families find their sons using their professional knowledge. He refused to speak on camera, and didn’t even want his voice to be heard in the video. Nonetheless, he provided us with some information, while expressing dissatisfaction with rumors circulating online that thousands of bodies are present in Metsamor and that they are being stored under improper conditions. He then presented the true picture.

He specifically emphasized that they only return bodies to parents after presenting the DNA results, confirming genetically that it is their son. He explained that they do not conduct autopsies; the bodies and remains are brought to them after the autopsy has already been performed, and samples are taken from the body afterwards. The DNA is sent for examination at the Forensic Scientific Practical Center, and based on the matches, new relatives are informed of where they can collect their loved ones’ bodies.

The young men execute their duties with utmost responsibility; there are instances where they check the dental records of the deceased and compare them with the tattoos on the bodies,” the news outlet reports. More details are available in the video.
