Narek Buried in Yerablur, Criminal Case Filed Against Him for Insulting Pashinyan
Political activist Narek Sargsyan, who voluntarily went to Artsakh to participate in the war and was considered missing for a long time, was buried on November 14 at the Yerablur Pantheon. This was reported to 'Hraparak' by Narek Sargsyan's relative, Armine Zakaryan.
It is noteworthy that Narek Sargsyan departed for Artsakh on September 27, the very first day of the war, as stated in his last two live broadcasts on Facebook: 'He arrived at night and went to Mataghis as a volunteer on September 27. The last time I spoke with him was on the night of the 28th to the 29th. He said it was a meat grinder, there was chaos, and they were barely holding what they had. He had called his combat buddy, and that was the last conversation. After that, I tried to establish contact for 5 days, and finally, on October 3, his combat friend, who was in the hospital injured, answered my call and said that I should not call anymore – Narek was gone, he had been killed. We found the body on November 13 in the Goris morgue, as a result of DNA testing. We buried him on November 14 at Yerablur,' said Narek's wife.
It is also worth recalling that Narek Sargsyan gained public attention when he doused Yerevan city council member Hasmik Khachunts with 'green paint' during a staged performance at the 'Republic Square' metro station. Narek Sargsyan was also critical of the ruling authorities and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. After one of such live broadcasts, a criminal case was filed against Narek Sargsyan for alleged hooliganism, but in reality, the case was initiated because of his sharp criticism towards Nikol Pashinyan, and Narek was detained.
