The Opening of the Turkish Corridor over Syunik with Turkish Preconditions Only Means One Thing: The Gradual Conquest of Syunik - Varuzhan Geghamyan

On March 31, the next summit of the "Turkic Council" (which unites Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan) took place. Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan wrote on Facebook:

During the summit, Uzbek President Sh. Mirziyoyev delivered a speech, from which we can highlight this segment: "For us, it is strategically important to enhance the transport and transit potential of our region. It is crucial to ensure access to the global major markets through Central Asia (including China, India, Pakistan, and other Asian countries), as well as from Azerbaijan and Turkey to European countries. The development of transport routes in these directions and the joint implementation of large projects aimed at building logistics infrastructure fully corresponds to our interests."

If we consider that throughout the entire summit only one corridor, the "Zangezur Corridor," was mentioned, it would not be incorrect to claim that the President of Uzbekistan was also referring to the corridor through Syunik leading to Meghri (Nakhichevan).

During the same meeting, the President of Azerbaijan specifically addressed the upcoming corridor: "After our victory, new opportunities have been created, the most important of which is transport. Today, we are actively working on the Zangezur Corridor project. In the past, when Zangezur was taken from Azerbaijan and connected with Armenia, the Turkic world was geographically divided. If you look at the map, it seems as if a dagger has been thrust into our body, and the Turkic world has been split. The historical land of Azerbaijan, Zangezur, will now play a role in uniting the Turkic world... Azerbaijan has long been working on this."

This once again proves that despite all the semi-apologies, the current occupying regime of the Republic of Armenia has agreed to provide a corridor through Syunik to Turkey and Azerbaijan, and the latter are now doing everything to present this project as a multilateral infrastructure endeavor, thereby increasing pressure on Armenia and making that decision inevitable.

If there were a national authority in Armenia, our Ministry of Foreign Affairs would not only refute such statements but would also have long been working diligently with the countries of the Turkic Council to prevent the impending disaster.

Thus, the opening of the Turkish corridor over Syunik with Turkish preconditions only means one thing: the gradual conquest of Syunik, primarily through economic means, and in the long term, militarily.
