Russian Ambassador Comments on Allegations of Iskander Use in Artsakh

Russia has become accustomed to hearing various accusations from certain political figures. This was stated today by Sergey Kopirkin, the Russian Ambassador to Armenia, during a conversation with journalists regarding concealed allegations aimed at Russia concerning the use of Iskanders.

Earlier, Azerbaijani media speculated that the remnants of Iskander-M missiles found in Shushi indicate that they could not have been fired from either Armenian territory or by the Armenian armed forces.

“You know that there can be different opinions, and we are also used to various political circles and figures voicing their assumptions and accusations. However, I believe there is an official position that is quite clear and should guide us,” Kopirkin said in response to a question from Sputnik Armenia.

A few days ago, Azerbaijani media reported information about the discovery of Iskander debris in Shushi. According to the Azerbaijani demining agency (ANAMA), “two missile fragments were found in the city of Shushi” on March 15. However, the types of Iskander missiles available in Armenia's arsenal are Iskander-E, whereas the fragments found in Shushi and later displayed in Baku belong to the Iskander-M variety.

Yesterday, on April 2, the Chief of the General Staff of Armenia, Artak Davtyan, stated that Armenia is unable to comment on Azerbaijan's claims that the Armenian side used Iskander, as this information is not subject to publication.
