Strict Measures Introduced Ahead of Easter Amid Third Wave of Coronavirus in Italy
Lilit A.
In Italy, three-day lockdown measures are being implemented in connection with the spread of the third wave of coronavirus infections, reports the BBC.
Currently, most of Italy is under 'red zone' restrictions, as the country is registering approximately 20,000 new infections daily. Non-essential movement is prohibited, but people are allowed to host two guests and dine in their homes. Additionally, they can participate in religious services within their local regions. For the second year in a row, Pope Francis will deliver a message in the empty St. Peter's Square.
After the holidays, various regions of Italy will remain in 'red' and 'orange' zones until the end of the month.
