VIDEO: There Are Many Dark Aspects Related to the Fall of Shushi That Still Need to Be Clarified, Says Seyran Ohanyan
I believe the soul of the Commander will always burn bright and will always warm our younger generation. This was stated today, April 2, by former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan during an interview with reporters after the memorial service for legendary commander Arkadi Ter-Tadevosyan.
“This is a great loss not only for his family but also for the Armenian people. It is clear, as per the philosophy of life and nature, that a person is born one day and his body is separated from the soul another day. I believe the soul of the Commander will always burn bright and will always warm our younger generation. His path and dedication to the homeland should serve as a bright example in military training as well. I met him in the 1990s. I got to know him more deeply prior to the operation in Shushi. He is the embodiment of the liberation of Shushi. He is one of my close individuals. I believe I am one of those who knew the Commander much better and I share a journey with him. I would like his soul to be illuminated; we will always remember him,” noted the former minister.
Regarding the well-known operation in Shushi, Ohanyan said that much was discussed at that time. “The operation for the liberation of Shushi was discussed. I believe that the operation was carried out in accordance with the demands of military art, starting from organization, terrain study, reconnaissance, command, cooperation arrangements, and comprehensive security measures. This was the guarantee that brought victory. The other guarantee of victory was the selflessness of our commanders and their soldiers. At that time, our commanders and soldiers were able to scale those cliffs and liberate the city of Shushi. Now we live with regret; many shortcomings occurred, and there are also many dark aspects related to the fall of Shushi that still need to be clarified,” he remarked.
Seyran Ohanyan shared that he met the Commander only once after the war. “Since he was ill, I didn’t speak for long; we exchanged a few words,” he added.
It is noteworthy that the 81-year-old legendary commander Arkadi Ter-Tadevosyan passed away on March 31. His funeral will take place tomorrow, April 3, at 11:00 AM at the St. John Church in Kond.”
