Investigator Fails to Provide Justification as Ishkhan Saghatelyan Denied Permission to Leave Country for 3 Days

Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a representative of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, wrote on his Facebook page: “As you know, starting from last November, I have been charged in relation to a criminal case for organizing illegal gatherings. They attempted to unlawfully detain me; failing that, they applied another measure of restraint prohibiting me from leaving, thereby restricting my right to free movement.

I had an important political engagement related to the party abroad and requested permission from the Special Investigative Service to be absent from the country for 3 days. Yesterday, we received a decision of denial. The investigator justified his denial solely on the grounds that it might be impossible to monitor my improper behavior while I am elsewhere.

I have the impression that the investigator has not even attempted to find justifications, whether legally robust or at least reasonable. Once again, let us note that the Special Investigative Service, represented by Sasun Khachatryan and his puppets, continues to carry out insane illegal orders and decisions, resorting to further unlawful actions.

Nevertheless, this kind of petty persecution against us only strengthens our resolve to continue the struggle for an Armenia devoid of Turks as soon as possible.”
