Azerbaijan Grossly Violates Responsibilities by Not Returning Armenian Prisoners of War, Aivazyan
The Foreign Minister of Armenia, Ara Aivazyan, who is in Moscow to attend the meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on April 1.
During their private conversation, the foreign ministers discussed a wide range of issues related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, including the implementation process of the trilateral statements made on November 9, 2020, and January 11. In this context, Minister Aivazyan emphasized the importance of the immediate repatriation of Armenian soldiers being held by Azerbaijan in gross violation of the obligations stipulated in the trilateral statement.
Minister Ara Aivazyan expressed serious concern regarding the deliberate targeting of Armenian cultural and religious monuments in areas under Azerbaijani control, highlighting the urgent need to take various measures to protect that heritage.
The foreign ministers also extensively addressed a broad range of bilateral agenda items concerning Armenian-Russian allied cooperation, as well as the upcoming high-level exchange schedule. Additionally, the heads of the foreign ministries discussed cooperation in a multilateral format.
