Accident on Yerevan-Meghri Highway: One Dead, Three Injured Including Children

On April 1, at 17:48, the Ararat regional crisis management center received a report about a traffic accident near Ararat village, with casualties reported. A firefighting unit from the Ministry of Emergency Situations was dispatched to the scene.

It was revealed that vehicles involved in the collision at the 48th km of the Yerevan-Meghri highway were a "Mercedes-Benz E320" (driver A. M., born 1988) and a "Mazda" (driver M. R., born 1981). The driver of the "Mazda" was pronounced dead at the scene.

Before rescuers arrived, the passengers of the "Mazda" – T. Sh. (born 1982), R. (born 2014), A. (born 2016), and A. R. (born 2016) – were extricated from the vehicle by locals and transported to the Ararat Hospital, where doctors assessed their condition as severe.

Rescuers de-energized the vehicles, closed the gas cylinder valves, and used specialized equipment to remove the body from the vehicle and transfer it to the ambulance. They then towed the vehicles and began cleaning the accident site.
