Two Clarifications by Daniel Ioannisyan

Daniel Ioannisyan, founder of the 'Informed Citizens' Union NGO and member of the Public Council, wrote on his Facebook page:

'Dear friends, two clarifications:

1. The National Assembly today approved part of the proposed changes to the Electoral Code, which solely involves abandoning the 'rating' electoral system. The remaining changes are still up for discussion. More details can be found here: https://reforms.am/reforms/electoral_system/

2. The 'closed list proportional electoral system' is essentially the ordinary proportional electoral system; the term 'closed' has no connection to the transparency of the list. The electoral lists of parties are published, and everyone will see the names of the candidates, their order, and even their property status. This electoral system is sometimes referred to as 'closed lists' because the order of candidates in the electoral lists of the parties is fixed, and there is no possibility for changes. There is no relation to confidentiality in this regard.'
