I urge Marukyan to measure only those forces that can be measured with his own measure: Aleksanyan
KP's public relations coordinator Vahagn Aleksanyan wrote on his Facebook page: "When the leader of the NA LHK faction Edmon Marukyan complains about the proportional electoral system, he uses the argument that supposedly only under the proportional system the party lists will mostly consist of representatives from Yerevan, while residents of the regions will, to put it bluntly, be left without an inherent, regionally elected deputy.
If I’m being honest, I had serious reservations about this argument from the beginning because our party, for example, considers ensuring mandatory representation of candidates from the regions in the proportional list. I was thinking, what’s the problem showing such an approach in other parties too, or what made Mr. Marukyan think that parties would go this route?
The answer was actually much simpler: Mr. Marukyan thought this way because he does it in his own party. Here’s the breakdown: The LHK currently has 17 deputies in this parliament, 6 of whom are from Vanadzor. That’s 35.29% of the faction.
I leave the conclusions to you, but I cannot help but ask Edmon Marukyan to measure only those forces that can be measured with that measure. One cannot adopt a certain approach within one’s own party, then project that approach onto other forces and present it as an inevitable evil."
