Video: Large Sum of Money Fraudulently Obtained by Posing as Family of Deceased Soldier, NSS Reveals
As a result of operational investigative measures conducted by the National Security Service of Armenia in the Ararat region, it has been revealed that a person identified as Yu. M., having knowledge of the familial ties, contacted A. G., a close relative of R. H., a resident of Vanashen village in the Ararat region, whose grandchild died during the Artsakh war. Under the pretext of soliciting money for the improvement of the deceased's grave site and the placement of a gravestone, Yu. M. misrepresented himself as a representative of the deceased soldier's family through correspondence via the Facebook social network.
This fraudulent act led to A. G. sending a significant amount of money totaling 2,700 USD, equivalent to 1,399,329 AMD, thereby defrauding the rightful owners of the property, who were misled by the false representation. Following this incident, Yu. M. has been arrested under a criminal case initiated in the NSS investigative department, and pre-trial detention has been applied as a measure of restraint.
With the application of legally permissible procedural tools, necessary investigative and other procedural actions are underway to clarify all the circumstances of the case and the complete scope of the victims. The NSS calls on all citizens who have been affected by similar actions from Yu. M. to report to law enforcement agencies and warns that it will continue to take active measures to uncover and neutralize similar incidents.
Note: A suspect or accused in a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia, with a legally binding court judgment.
