About Three Dozen Schools Transitioning to Temporary Distance Learning, Deputy Minister

Schools are transitioning to distance learning when the number of registered cases exceeds 10 percent. If there are cases in a classroom, that classroom may also shift to online instruction. This was announced today at a press conference by the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan.

“There are about three dozen schools that are temporarily moving to distance learning,” she stated.

Addressing the issue of teacher vacancies, Andreasyan noted that there are indeed teacher shortages and efforts are underway to address this. An electronic repository has been created for this purpose. “Our measures are not mere beautiful ideas; as of January 1, a new procedure for assignments has been implemented, improving several conditions,” she said.

She also reported that there is an initiative underway with colleagues in the National Assembly to amend the law on general education. “For example, it will allow individuals with a physics education but without teaching qualifications to participate in competitions in schools where positions remain unfilled, provided they accumulate a certain number of pedagogical credits,” she explained.
