17-Year-Old Student Arrested

According to SHAMSHYAN.com, on March 29, a decision was made by Agasi Ishakyan, head of the Shirak Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, to establish an investigative group tasked with a particularly important case. The senior investigator submitted a motion to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Gyumri in Shirak Province, requesting a two-month pre-trial detention for 17-year-old Davit V., a resident of Yerevan.

As reported by photo journalist Gagik Shamshyan, the judge conducted a closed court session and, upon returning from the consultation room, granted the investigative authority's request. Davit V., who is suspected of murdering 26-year-old Gevorg Dadranyan, a resident of building 135A on Yerevan Highway in Gyumri on March 27, was subsequently arrested and transferred to the “Abovyan” penitentiary facility under the Ministry of Justice of Armenia.

Earlier, it was reported that on March 29, the officers of the Shirak Provincial Police, led by chief Aram Ghazaryan, along with the criminal investigation unit of the Kumayri division under the command of chief Aram Garibyan, and the Mush division officers under chief Arthur Hakobyan, cooperated with the staff of the Main Criminal Police Department of the Police of Armenia, led by chief Vardan Vardanyan, and the investigators from the Shirak Regional Investigation Department. They undertook necessary operational and investigative actions to identify the perpetrator of the murder of Gevorg Dadranyan at Yerevan Highway, building 135A in Gyumri.

As stated by the photo journalist, as a result of the explanatory work conducted by the police and investigators, 17-year-old Davit V., a resident of Yerevan, voluntarily appeared at the Kumayri Police Station and confessed that he had committed the murder with a knife he possessed. Through the explanatory work of the Shirak Province police, Davit V. also presented the knife used in the crime.
