It’s Revealed Why Egg Prices Have Reached 110 Drams

The newspaper "Joghovurd" reports that the egg market has slipped out of control. Several players in the market have resorted to anti-competitive actions to achieve excessive profits.

Recently, several citizens purchased boxes of eggs from supermarkets and resold them at high prices to small shops. This is the reason that in shops, not only have egg prices exceeded 100 drams, but there is also an artificial deficit.

In addition, days ago, some individuals bought boxes of eggs from supermarkets and stored them in their garages to sell them at a high price for Easter.

In order to address this issue, shopkeepers are currently refusing to sell more than 15 eggs to one person.

Incidentally, the president of the Union of Poultry Breeders of Armenia, Sergey Stepanyan, stated in an interview with "Joghovurd" that the artificial deficit is being created by intermediary organizations and distributors: "The distributors we have allowed out until the Easter holiday are taking the eggs and giving them to small shops." However, Stepanyan's statement has infuriated the distributors. They insist that they can provide documents indicating how much they supply the eggs to supermarkets.

While distributors and producers are fighting against each other, the ordinary citizen is suffering. Not to mention the victims of the 44-day war, whose first Easter is on April 4. Amidst this situation, some are trying to make money.
